Night Markets
Shopping at night, it’s a special experience for everyone who likes to wander around and look at the huge variety of Bangkok’s products. One of the popular street markets is the Patpong market situated near BTS Siam station where you can especially look for clothes and cozy bars. The market starts around 6.00 PM. and will last until approximately 1.00 AM. Just a tip: do not forget to bargain this spares a lot of money.
Asiatique is another night market rather fancy and photogenic with nicely decorated shops in Asia style including many boutiques, shops and restaurants. Enough to do, weather you want to treat yourself with something new, enjoy a good dinner or attend one of the spectacular shows. Everything seems possible in Asiatique, open from 5.00 PM. until midnight. The best way to get there is by taking the BTS line to Saphan Taksin and catch a boat at the end of the pier. Besides these there are many more night markets and food bazaars for clothes, accessories, gifts and lots of delicious foods. Entertainment Intriguing are Thailand’s Ladyboy shows, while looking at the artists it is hard to tell that ‘she’ was born as ‘he’. The most famous show is in the huge shopping mall/bazaar Asiatique where ladyboys perform every evening twice. Another must-see is the Siam Niramit show which successfully displays 700 years of Thai history with use of amazing costumes and real elephants. Be surprised during this magical show in a theater which can rather be seen as a small village. You can’t leave Thailand before seeing a Muay Thai boxing match in Asiatique or the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, the national sport of Thailand. Other shows are for example the Aksra Puppet Show, the Calypso Cabaret en theater shows. You could visit one of the luxurious cinema’s for some relaxation, with the huge offer of divers cinema’s, it will definitely be a great experience. Partylife Bangkok has a huge range of crazy party places, you can go to the famous Patpong, Nana and Soi Cowboy with a slightly naughty edge though there is much more to do in the capital such as the fancy rooftop bars and extravagant night clubs. Over the years Kao San Road became a legend among backpackers and tourists. It is the place to go completely crazy in one of the numerous bars and clubs. If you get hungry you can always try one of the tasty snacks at the market stalls offering grasshoppers, scorpions and other Thai delicates. Sukumvit and Silom are other party districts you should definitely check out, home to the best clubs such as Levels with electronic music and high class DJ´s and the famous Q Bar and Route 66 with various music styles. The new Ku De Ta complex in Sathorn is a huge, with view upon the city it consists of restaurants, nightclubs and seven themed bars. Young partygoers should have a look at the RCA (Royal City Avenue) and for a classy night you can’t miss a high top restaurant. Luxurious dining Bangkok has many tall buildings but this implies as well many good viewpoints! The rooftop restaurants and cocktail bars are overlooking the city at its best. The twinkling lights of Bangkok are everywhere, a romantic trip! Be aware of the classy dress code, sport shoes and sleeveless tops are mostly not allowed. Another recommendation is a river cruise on the Chao Phraya river which doesn’t only make you taste the best food but shows you as well the most beautiful sites and lights of Bangkok at night. Some boats are just as beautiful as the surroundings with lovely light decorations and Asian design.
